N.Y.: Tramway Reopening May Wait Until Fall

Tramway Reopening May Wait Until Fall

Published: May 18, 2006

The operator of the Roosevelt Island Tramway said yesterday that it would probably take 10 to 12 weeks to complete repairs and upgrades, at which point it will call in state inspectors to authorize the resumption of service on the line, which broke down last month, stranding dozens of people.

Comments:
I'm glad to see they intend to reopen the Tramway. I rode it last summer and we had a blast. Too bad you weren't there. The residents of the island can also take the bus or subway home as alternatives to riding the highway which is gridlocked during rush hour. The tram never has any gridlock.
