California High Speed Rail
Comments:
I hope no one takes seriously claims that California high-speed rail will operate at a profit. First, they are only claiming that revenues will cover operating costs, not capital costs. Second, it is unlikely that this will happen.
An independent assessment of high-speed rail published by the University of California Transportation Center found that rail would require huge subsidies and would draw passengers mainly from airlines, not highways, thus threatening the profitability of air carriers who are now largely paying their own way.
